Random thoughts of a patriot

Sunday, India celebrated its 58th Independence Day. Heard our PM's speech on Doordarshan. It was very motivating, especially the way he concluded it with Jai Hind. Later I went back to sunday routine. It was just like another day.
I remember school and college days where we would wake up early morning, and go for flag hoisting. our P.T teacher in school would take a drill, and we had to do Lezim and the wooden dumbels. Used to find it pretty weird those days.

College NCC, we would practice the parade for a month and the salaami with the rifle. Dress up in our best ironed uniform, well polished shiny shoes and then the salutation over the national anthem. That was the real time I understood the importance of the day and enjoyed it too. Its been more than 5 years now that i have actually seen a flag hoist. Why don't companies also have them (well our co did have a little gesture)or maybe a common place where a normal citizen can attend it too.
How much I miss those salaami days, though this time celebrated it in a different way, had the tri color painted on face and cheered for our co for football match.
